  • As a licensed taxidermist in the state of Maryland, there are several fields of information that need to be documented when dropping off your animal. They are:

    1. Name

    2. License / State ID

    3. Address

    4. Phone Number

    5. Confirmation Number (if applicable)

    6. Harvest Date

    7. Harvest Location

The best thing you can do is to write it down on your tag(s) that you keep with the animal. Also, take a screen shot of your harvest record on your phone if you check it in electronically.

It is also helpful to have an idea of how you want your animal mounted before you leave to help eliminate confusion in the future.

  • In general, keep it cool and dry. Get it to me as soon as is feasible.

If freezing for an extended period of time, keep in a sealed plastic bag and try to remove as much air as possible.

  • Right now nothing will exceed 12 months from the date you drop your animal off unless otherwise discussed.

In many cases the turn around time is 4-8 months.

I would like to note, for deer and youth day deer specifically…if a kid kills a deer on youth day and wants it back for Christmas I can accommodate that if I’m made aware when the animal is dropped off. For kids and youth day deer this comes with no extra charge. Expedited work can be handled but will need to be discussed on a case by case basis.
